Jeff was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Saranac Lake at the age of 8. He attended school in the Saranac Lake Central School District and served as the Class President in his senior year of High School. During high school he decided to live and work in the Adirondacks. He made the commitment to enter the family real estate/insurance business with his father upon graduation from college.
In 1978, Jeff earned a Bachelor of the Arts Degree from St. Lawrence University. While at St. Lawrence University, Jeff competed for the Hockey and Golf teams. In May of that year, he began his Ayres career.
Jeff has been very active in the Adirondack real estate market for decades. He has developed expertise in all aspects of the real estate business including the valuation of waterfront and Adirondack Camps. Jeff and his family (including their Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Abby), truly enjoy life in the Adirondacks. Jeff's wife, Carol, is an English teacher in the Middle School. His son, Kurt, is in his second year of college, while his daughter, Lisa, is presently in high school. Jeff and his family enjoy hiking, hockey, golf, hunting, fishing, kayaking, boating, skiing and snowboarding as well as many other activities that the region offers. In fact, Jeff is a past President of the local Golf Club.
