 BY AUTO

From New York City and New Jersey
Take NY State Thruway (I-87) north to Exit 24 (Albany/Montreal). Continue on I-87 north (Adirondack Northway) to Exit 30. Follow Rt. 9N to Rt. 73, west to Rt. 86 and Saranac Lake.

From Buffalo, Rochester, Syracus
Take NY Stat Thruway (I-87) east to I-81 in Syracus. Follow I-81 north to Watertown, then Rt. 3 east to Saranac Lake.

From Ottawa
Take routes south to the Cornwall Bridge. Pick up Rt. 37 east to Malone. Follow Rt. 30 south to Rt. 86 east to Saranac Lake.

From Montreal
Take Rt. 15 south to Champlain crossing, where it connects with I-87 south. Take Exit 38 to Rt. 374 west to Rt. 3 to Saranac Lake.

BY AIR

 BY RAIL

Lake Placid

 BY AUTO

From New York City and New Jersey
Take the NY State Thruway (I-87) north to Exit 24 (Albany). Take I-87 north (Adirondack Northway) to Exit 30. Pick up Rt. 9 north and follow it for two miles to Rt. 73. Continue on Rt. 73 for 28 miles to Lake Placid.

From Toronto
Take 401 east to Cornwall Bridge. Pick up Rt. 37 east to Malone. Follow Rt. 30 south to Paul Smiths and pick up Rt. 86. Continue on 86 to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.

From Ottawa
Take routes south to the Cornwall Bridge. Pick up Rt. 37 east to Malone. Follow Rt. 30 south to Paul Smiths and pick up Rt. 86. Continue on 86 to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.

From Boston, Springfield, Hartford
Take Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to Albany. Pick up I-87 north to Cohoes. Connect with Rt. 7 west to I-97 north. Follow I-87 to Exit 30. Pick up Rt. 9 north and follow it for two miles to Rt. 73. Continue on Rt. 73 for 28 miles to Lake Placid.

From Buffalo, Rodchester, Syracuse, points west
Take I-90 (NY State Thruway) east to Exit 36 (Syracuse). Pick up I-81 north and follow to Watertown. Take Route 3 east to Saranac Lake, then Route 86 east to Lake Placid.

From Montreal
Take Rt. 15 south to Champlain Crossing, connecting with I-87 south. Take Exit 34 west, follow Rt. 9N then Rt. 86 to the Whiteface Mountain/ Lake Placid area.

BY AIR

The Lake Placid area is within 2 hours driving time of major airports in Albany, New York, Burlington, Vermont; and Montral, Quebec. All are serviced by major carriers and have car rentals available.

Adirondack Airport

Lake Placid Airport
The Lake Placid Municipal Airport (518-523-2473) is just south of the village on Rt. 73. Open 9 am to 5 pm daily. Paved 4,200 ft. lighted runway. Services: Air Charter flights from most airports, scenic flights, tie down, and repairs.

 BY RAIL

Amtrak operates between New York City and Montreal with local stops in Westport, NY (40 minutes from Lake Placid). Other stops along Lake Champlain include Ticonderoga, Port Henry, and Port Kent. Call 800-872-7245 for schedule information and reservations.
