In 1995 Saranac Lake was ranked #1 Small Town
in New York State and 11th in the U.S. In 1998 the pregtigious All-America
City status was bestowed upon the village by the National Civic League.
Saranac Lake is in the heart of the Adirondacks and at the hub of activity. Evergreen
forests, pristine lakes and lofty mountains surround the village of more than
5,000 people, where community is an established and enduring way of life. You
can canoe the wide-open lakes and rivers, and hike among the area's small scenic
summits or the "High Peaks." Winter offers a multitude of activities,
including skiing and snowshoeing. Also, there is shopping, history, dining
and fine accommodations.
