Although the largest geographical district in New York State, Saranac Lake Central School District retains a small-town character. Art, chorus, music, computers, languages, and resource rooms are an integral part of the curriculum at all levels.

There is a wide range of supplementary services offered to the elementary students. Speech therapy, counseling, occupational and physical therapies are availabe at all schools. Remedial and/or special education services are also offered. Additional programs include student plays, intermediate grade chorus, and Odyssey of the Mind.

Grades 9-12. Approximately 560 students. Offers an unusually comprehensive range of academic and extracurricular programs. In addition to core classes, students can choose from electives such as Drama, Music Theory, Drawing and Painting, Photography, Principles of Engineering and Pascal Computer Programming. Realistic career internships are also available. AP courses are available in English, Calculus, History, Biology, and Spanish. There are several extracurricular clubs and organizations. Interscholastic athletic teams include football, track, skiing, volleyball, soccer, hockey, and basketball.
