Saranac Lake Central School District   visit website Although the largest geographical district in New York State, Saranac Lake Central School District retains a small-town character. Art, chorus, music, computers, languages, and resource rooms are an integral part of the curriculum at all levels. There is a wide range of supplementary services offered to the elementary students. Speech therapy, counseling, occupational and physical therapies are availabe at all schools. Remedial and/or special education services are also offered. Lake Colby School (518) 891-3350 Attended by the district's kindergarten and pre-first students, it is located just outside the village. Petrova Elementary (518) 891-4221 Grades 1-5. Largest elementary school in the district with approximately 370 students. Saranac Lake Middle (518) 891-4221 Grades 6-8. With a student body of approximately 480, offers classes and activities designed to challenge students and demand their best efforts. Also, there are several programs that allow students to express their unique talents. Saranac Lake Senior High (518) 891-4450 Grades 9-12. Approximately 560 students. Offers an unusually comprehensive range of academic and extracurricular programs. In addition to core classes, students can choose from electives such as Drama, Music Theory, Drawing and Painting, Photography, Principles of Engineering and Pascal Computer Programming. Realistic career internships are also available. AP courses are available in English, Calculus, History, Biology, and Spanish. There are several extracurricular clubs and organizations. Interscholastic athletic teams include football, track, skiing, volleyball, soccer, hockey, and basketball.

Lake Placid Middle School is located in a wing of the High School with approximately 300 students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
